Today I wish you a Merry Christmas with the Stuffed bread rolls: You can make them baked or fried and they will always come out great. Not only, You can fill them as you like: in my opinion stuffed with Milano salami and Brie cheese, as I did, they are stunning. But also with cooked ham and scamorza cheese, with vegetables and taleggio cheese. In short, You can really indulge yourself. You can use normal sliced bread but also sandwich bread. Very simple to prepare, as you see in VIDEO RECIPE stepping on my YouTube channel, These stuffed bread rolls are a Fabulous aperitif, also for Christmas menus. But also a delicious second course accompanied by a nice SALAD OF ORANGES AND FENNEL or PERSIMMON, APPLES AND WALNUTS.

We often prepare them together with the SPITINI PALERMITANI, made with salami, cheese, meatballs and bread. One of the most delicious street foods ever to be served strictly fried and hot with a glass of bubbles. And the Christmas atmosphere is guaranteed.

The recipe for bread rolls, both baked and fried, is very simple: You just have to thin the loaf of bread as much as possible using a rolling pin, so that there is not too much bread. Choose the filling you prefer and then dip the rolls in the beaten egg with milk and finally in the breadcrumbs. At this point, You can either fry them in plenty of peanut oil, or bake them in the oven, turning them halfway through cooking. I've got to be honest: are exceptional. Crunchy and with stringy cheese. In the oven, the sliced bread rolls are still good, So much so that I also propose this version. On the other hand, My grandmother used to say that even a shoe sole, if well fried, it's good. And I can't say he was wrong!

Stuffed bread rolls (baked or fried)

Stuffed bread rolls are super quick to prepare, look at the VIDEO RECIPE step by step. If you use bread you have to remove the darker outer edges by cutting them with a knife. If you use sandwich bread it is not necessary because it is already crustless.

Flatten the slices of bread with a rolling pin, in order to make them as thin as possible, as you can see in the video recipe. Then put a slice of salami or ham and a piece of cheese in the center of each slice. You can also use sliced cheese but I don't recommend slices because they melt too easily. A more resistant cheese is better.

Roll the rolls on themselves. Refrigerate them for 30-40 minutes. Beat the two eggs with a little milk and a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper and dip each roll in the carefully beaten egg, so that it is covered. Then, dip each roll in breadcrumbs and thread them on a skewer, as you can see in the video recipe.

You can Fry them in peanut oil at 170 degrees for about 5 minutes, over a low heat and turning them several times during cooking, or bake them in the oven. In this case, Preheat oven to 180 degrees static, Then line a baking sheet with parchment paper and grease it with a little extra virgin olive oil. Place the skewers of stuffed bread rolls in the pan and drizzle with a drizzle of oil. Bake for 20 minutes, turning the rolls halfway through cooking. Always serve piping hot. Bon appétit!
