I recommend, Do not cut the apples into too thin slices, must be at least one centimeter thick. I like Perfume apples with cinnamon, sugar, a drop of brandy. But you can also add grated lemon or orange zest for a fresher scent. I have to admit, though, that cinnamon and apples For me, they are a perfect combination. Once the apples are wrapped in the puff pastry, you have to brush them with egg and milk, or even just milk, and dip them in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar. The aroma will be similar to that of the delicious cinnamon rolls, The cinnamon rolls that I love so much.

The apple donuts in puff pastry are a very, very valid even compared to the classics APPLE PANCAKES, which in my opinion are exceptional fried but not as good baked. Ingredients

5 apples of the type you prefer

30 grams of caster sugar

a few drops of lemon juice

cinnamon to taste

a dash of white grappa if you like (Optional)

2 rolls of puff pastry ready (or homemade)

yolk and milk (or just milk) to brush apple donuts

more granulated sugar and cinnamon to taste

Procedure

Apple donuts in puff pastry

Since this recipe is really simple, look at the video recipe in order to understand well how to properly coat apples with puff pastry.

First peel the apples, Cut them into slices one centimeter thick and remove the central part of the slices with the core and seeds as you see in the video recipe. Put the apple slices in a bowl and massage with a few drops of lemon juice so that they do not blacken. Add sugar, cinnamon to taste, a dash of grappa and if you want also grated orange zest or lemon and mix well, being careful not to break apples.

Cut the puff pastry into strips one to two centimeters thick. Wrap the apple slices in the puff pastry strips so that they are completely covered with them, as you see in video recipe. Put the apple donuts on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes. As the donuts cool down, Preheat oven to 200 degrees static.

Brush the apple donuts with the egg yolk mixed with whole milk or even just whole milk and pass the donuts on each side in granulated sugar mixed with ground cinnamon. Cook the apple donuts for about 15 minutes or until they are puffy and golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes. Then sprinkle the apple donuts with powdered sugar and enjoy immediately. Bon appétit!
