In fact, the Banoffee pie is a very sweet, very rich and caloric. As often happens with English sweets. By the way, you've already tried the HOT CROSS BUNS? In the original recipe for the base are used the butter biscuits typical of English pastry. I love them, but they are quite fatty and therefore I prefer to use classic Grancereali or rice or Digestive biscuits: Feel free to use the cookies you prefer. The biscuits are then compacted with melted butter and the base left in the fridge to rest and compact. How to make dulce de leche at home with a can of condensed milk

If you want to make dulce de leche at home, The most practical way to prepare it at home is to cook for about an hour and a half a can of condensed milk, obviously closed, in plenty of water. Ingredients

DOSE OF A PIE 20-22 CM IN DIAMETER

  • FOR THE DOUGH:

150 grams of Digestive biscuits or Grancereali

80 grams butter, melted

a pinch of salt

  • FOR THE STUFFING:

3 bananas

250 grams caramel sauce or dulce de leche

250 ml of cream

50 grams powdered sugar

Bourbon vanilla extract

dark chocolate

 

 

Procedure

Before starting to prepare the Banoffee pie watch the short RECIPE VIDEO on my YouTube channel. First melt the butter and let it cool. Meanwhile crumble the biscuits: You can blend them to get a sandy texture or crush them a little coarser for a more rustic texture. Add the butter and a pinch of salt and stir until well mixed.

I recommend using a hinged mold or with an opening bottom, if you want to unmold the cake before cutting it. Pour the mixture of butter and biscuits into the mold and level it on the bottom and sides with the back of a spoon, pressing well so as to compact it. Put the cake tin in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, so that butter, solidifying, harden the base of the cake.

Meanwhile, whip the cold fresh liquid cream from the refrigerator with icing sugar (I also like to add a little Bourbon vanilla extract) and chop the dark chocolate. When the base of Banoffee pie has solidified, pour caramel sauce, The toffee or dulce de leche and level with a spatula. Cover with bananas cut into slices about half a centimeter thick, making sure that the slices do not overlap each other.

Cover the Banoffee cake with whipped cream. You can use a pastry bag to decorate the cake or a simple spatula, as I did, to create waves on the surface of the cake. Garnish with a little caramel sauce and dark chocolate chips. Store the cake in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Bon appétit!

Note

ADVICE: Banoffee pie can be stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container for a maximum of 2-3 days. Can't freeze.
